A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF MTCF

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF MAHMUD TARZI CULTURAL FOUNDATION/mr. OMER TARZİ FOR THE 100 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCY OF AFGHANISTAN

H.E. ZIKRIA BARAKZAI, CONSUL GENERAL OF AFGHANISTAN, TURKISH AND AFGHAN RESPECTABLE QUESTS, MY FELLOW YOUNG AFGHANS AND STUDENTS AND MY DEAR FAMILY MEMBERS

I GREET YOU WITH MY FULL RESPECT

Today is a very important day for all of us. We celebrate the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Afghanistan and we commemorate a great person, Allama Mahmud Tarzi, who with king Aman Ullah fought for this most important struggle.

We still haven’t paid our debt to these two great men. In the 1900s they gave a great struggle to bring our country to the level of civilized countries, but today we are still struggling with corrupt thoughts and people.

Mahmud Tarzi’s main characteristic was to struggle with the thought of highest benefit for his people and his country.

***

He, never used his country’s advantages for his own ego ! He believed that in government administration the worse damage comes from insisting in personal interests.

That’s why he was a great stateman !

In 1887, Mahmud beg became a person who gave direction to Afghan literature with his own style. He was in full knowledge of Dari, Pasthu, Arabic, Turkish and French languages.

In 1896, Mahmud Tarzi took lessons from activist, journalist, political scientist Cemalledin Afghani. He and Molla Muhammad Akhram were the two names effecting Mahmud Tarzi’s intellectual maturity.
In 1901 Amir Habibullah ascended the throne in Afhanistan. He loosened his father’s centralist authority and transition period to moderate policy began. Mahmud Tarzi and his family with the request of Amir, returned to Afghanistan in 1902. He was greeted with close and warm attention of the palace. And Mahmud Tarzi started the reforms.

“modernization of Afghanistan started with Mahmud Tarzi’s character and his accumulation.” One of his Turkish fan, dr.Mehmet Fazlı said and wrote in his book “Young Turks in Afganistan ”.
In 1911 Mahmud Tarzi, started to publish the newspaper Seraj-al Akhbar and he became the torch of the Afghan development and people’s prosperity.

Mahmud Tarzi’s work on nationalism, independence that started around 1890 with the “young turks”, became more important when Aman Ullah khan became king.

As the result of Mahmud Tarzi’s high diplomatic success, while king Aman Ullah   fights on the battlefield, Afghanistan regained independency in 19 aug. 1919 and with Britain all world accepted Afganistan as fully independed country.

Mahmud Tarzi, is a charismatic stateman who with his high abilities could well organize “what, when and how to do.”

Beginning in 1885 his political maturity started developing by the lessons he received from valuable mentors. Later he combined his accumulations with the Turkish nationalist fractions and adapted all his knowledge to the upper governmental posts. And all these effected his diplomatic career successfully.

Once he said ;- “they may be in higher positions by chance, but they are useless if they do not have any ability.”
Today, you, our esteemed friends, together with our family, celebrate the 100th anniversary of liberation of Afghanistan, and at this stage we remember our grand father Allama Mahmud Tarzi, together with the king Aman Ullah who fought with greatest effort to win our independency.

Afghan nation fought for their family,  country, land, business and believed to their king. And king believed to his mentor, and both trusted their people who were full of love and courage ! And they succeeded.

Good living is not a luxury, it is a necessity. It is the fundamental right of all of us, especially our children. This is the greatest purpose of independency and they brought this idea to our watan !

Our inspiration is Mahmud Tarzi, a great man. He had a rich culture, had the right creativity to give his people better quality of life.

Unfortunatelly, we are moving from one crisis to another and strange times are on the agenda. .
If pollution,by all means, continues to increase as it is now, real thing is to eat, drink water and breath fresh air. And this fresh air comes to us from the breath of Mahmud Tarzi.

We seek purity, not exaggeration.

Distinguished guests, As MTCF, we continue to work in the awareness of our duties.

The most pleasing thing for me is to see that the Tarzi young generations after us have taken on this mission in the right direction.

what I’m talking about here are quotes from my book “two kings and a leader” which describes the personality and characteristics of Mahmud Tarzi.
I would like to thank our esteemed ministers, government officials, academicians, my Tarzi family members and the Afghan people who contributed to our establishment of Mahmud Tarzi Cultural Foundation.

I would like to express my gratitude to you for contributing to this wonderful ceremony in spite of all the difficulties on such a day.

God bless you and God bless Afghanistan
