"International Fashion
Lab" will take place between 13-15 March 08 at
Tophane-i Amire, Istanbul, Turkiye.
The aim of this activity is the general education problems and earning the young girls and women to the community by developing their hand skill.
Within this interactive project, Idil Tarzi(founder member of MTCF and Fashion Designers Association) is cooperating with CATOM/multipurpose community centers/founded by GAP administrative presidency and UNDP.
The above mentioned social project is also the main aim of Kabul-Afghanistan centered Mahmud Tarzi Cultural Foundation. Foundation is helping the Afghan women to develop their handskill. Very near past, MTCF organized sewing courses in Kabul.
The aim is not collecting donations for these women but it is to arrange an interactive environment for these women to gain their self respect and financial security.
Our believe is to support this project with this meaninfull participation that will bring more power between two countries relations and two societies will close more each other. There is no doubt that this project also will help a new look for Afghan-Turk women for their future.

quote;
Akrab, 7-1386 wa
oct. 29, 2007, Kabul City
IN THE NAME OF THE MERCIFUL AND COMPASSIONATE ALLAH
THE DISTINQUISHED GUESTS,
DEAR COMPATRIOTS, BROTHERS
LADIES & GENTLEMEN
I AM PLEASED THAT THIS OCCASION BROUGHT SUCH A DISTINQUISHED AUDIENCE TOGETHER.
FIRST OF ALL, I APPRECIATE YOUR TOLERANSE FOR LISTENING MY POOR LANGUAGE AND I THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PATIENCE.
I THANK MR. SPEAKER
FOR INTRODUCING ME WITH THE TITLE “SARDAR” WHILE INVITING
TO THE STAGE. IT IS A GREAT HONOR FOR ME.
BUT AS YOU MAY KNOW WELL THIS TITLE WAS GIVEN TO MY GRANDFATHER MAHMUD
TARZI AND I AM PROUD OF HIM.
UP TO NOW, WE
ALL LISTENED MUHTEREM DR. FARHADI USTAD AND USTADI DANISMEND KHALILI
SAHEB ,WITH GREAT SYMPATHY, PLEASURE AND APPRECIATION.
NOW, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO TALK AFTER THEM. WITH YOUR KIND
PERMISSION I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A SHORT JOURNEY FROM THE TIME OF MEVLANA
TO MAHMUD TARZI, WHAT THEY ADDED TO THE RELATIONS OF AFGHANISTAN-TURKIYE
WITH THEIR EXPERIENCES IN THEIR FIELDS ,.
I AM OMER TARZI, THE SON OF ABDULTAVAP WHO IS THE SON OF GREAT MAHMUD TARZI AND I WILL TRY TO TALK ABOUT TWO GREAT MEN WITH HEAD LINES.
MEVLANA, THE MASTER
OF SUFI AND THINKER OF HIS TIME, BROUGHT BROTHERHOOD BETWEEN TURKIYE
AND AFGHANISTAN WHICH STILL CONTINUES WITH INCREASING VOLUME.
2/
IT IS A
FACT THAT RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES STARTED DURING THE TIME
OF MEVLANA CELALEDDIN. IN OTHER WORDS THERE WAS NO SUCH RELATION BETWEEN
THE TWO COUNTRIES BEFOREHAND. I CAN TELL SINCERELY THAT HE WAS THE
AMBASSADOR OF PROGRESSION FOR THE TWO COUNTRIES, IN ANATOLIA.
HIS FATHER,THE
RESPECTED SULTAN BAHAEDDIN U VELED, WAS LIVING IN THE CITY OF BALKH/BELH
IN AFGHANISTAN AS AN OLD THINKER WITH A TITLE SULTAN OF SCHOLAR/SULTAN
UL ULEMA.
HE DECIDED TO MOVE FROM THE CITY WHEN HE HEARD THAT MOGULS WERE COMING WITH VIOLENCE ,HE GATHERED ALL HIS FAMILY AND LEFT HIS WATAN/COUNTRY.
HE AND HIS FAMILY
FIRST ARRIVED TO BAGHDAT THEN CONTINUED TOWARD ANATOLIA AND ARRIVED
TO THE CITY OF KONYA. HE WAS THE MAN WHO TRAVELLED FROM KHORASAN TO
MAVERAUNEHIR WITH HIS PEOPLE WITHIN A YEAR.
THE TURKS WHO LIVED IN KHORASAN FOR MORE THEN TWO CENTURIES ADORED
HIM FROM THEIR HEARTS.
SULTAN VELED DIED
IN KONYA. HE EDUGATED MEVLANA AS HIMSELF AND MEVLANA BECAME A REAL
SUFI AND A THINKER .
MEVLANA LIVED IN KONYA AND BECAME A FAMOUS SUFI THINKER, SPOKESMAN
OF THE SECRETS, AND HE REFLECTED HIS THOUGHTS IN HIS BOOKS, COLLECTED
IN DIWAN AND MESNEWI…
HE DIED IN KONYA WHERE HE REUNIONED PEACE.
AFTER HIS DEATH HIS INHERITANCE STAYED IN ANATOLIA AND WELL-BRED PEOPLE/CHELEBIS
KEPT THIS INHERITANCE FOR MANY CENTURIES UNTILL NOW.
AFTER SEVEN CENTURIES OF HIS TIME AN AFGHAN SARDAR VISITED OTTOMAN STATE AND MET SULTAN . THIS MAN WAS SARDAR WAS GHULAM MUHAMMAD TARZI. BECAUSE OF HIS VERY CLOSE RELATION WITH THE SULTAN, HE WAS PERMITTED TO STAY IN A GIVEN HOUSE AT THE CITY OF MISKH WITH HIS FAMILY. AT THAT TIME STATE OF OTTOMAN WAS CONTROLLING THE PROVENCES OF SURIYA, IRAQ AND THE HECAZ.
SARDAR GHULAM MUHAMMAD TARZI, WAS A POET AND A WRITER WITH HIS STRONG PEN. HIS DIWAN WAS PUBLISHED TWICE.
HIS BELOVED SON MAHMUDI TARZI WAS ALSO A POET IN DARI FROM HIS VERY YOUNG AGES, AND HIS FATHER GAVE HIM HIS TITLE TARZI BECAUSE OF HIS VERY DIFFERENT STYLE OF WRITINGS.
IT IS AN IMPORTANT COINCIDENCE THAT AFTER SEVEN CENTURIES FROM THE TIME OF CELALEDDIN- I MEVLANA, SON OF HZ. SULTAN VELED, ANOTHER AFGHAN MAHMUD TARZI, SON OF GHULAM MUHAMMAD HAD THE SAME STRUGGLE…
TWO FATHERS AND
TWO SONS!
3
THERE IS
ONLY ONE HISTORICAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEIR LIVES, SARDAR MAHMUD
TARZI WORKED IN HIS COUNTRY AND SERVED TO HIS COUNTRY.
AMIR AMAN ULLAH KHAN DURING HIS REIGN, APPOINTED MAHMUD TARZI AS THE FOREIGN MINISTER. ONE OF HIS IMPORTANT CHALLENGE WAS TO REBUILD THE GOOD RELATIONS BETWEEN AFGHANISTAN AND TURKIYE.
MUSTAFA KEMAL, PRESIDENT OF THE TURKIYE WAS A CLOSE FRIEND OF AMIR AMAN ULLAH KHAN AND BECAUSE OF THIS RELATION, MANY AFGHAN YOUTH WENT TO TURKIYE AND FOUND POSSIBILITIES, EDUCATED IN TECHNICAL UNIVERSITIES, HEALTH FACULTIES AND EVEN IN ARMY SCHOOLS.
13TH CENTURY WAS THE TIME FOR MEVLANA, THE MISTIC POET, 19TH AND 20TH CENTURIES WERE THE TIME FOR TARZI SAHEB.
TODAY,LIKE THE PAST HUNDREDS OF YEARS MANY TURKS AND FOREIGNERS VISIT KONYA THE CITY OF MEVLANA TO PRAY AND FIND PEACE AND SECURITY .AND WATCH THE WHIRLING DERVISHES
TODAY YOUNG MINDED TURKS STUDY THE BOOKS ABOUT MEVLANA OBSERVE HIS LIFE AND BRING OUT NEW COLLECTION OF BOOKS.
THE LATE SEFIK
JAN WAS ONE OF THEM WHO TRANSLATED MESNEW-I SHERRIF INTO TURKISH LANGUAGE
AND IT IS ONE OF THE BEST AMONG THE OTHERS IN 20TH CENTURY.
THE OTHER VERY FAMOUS TURKISH USTAD, AUTHOR AND SCHOLAR THE LATE ABDULBAKI
GULPINARLI WROTE A BOOK ABOUT THE LIFE AND STRUGGLES OF MEVLANA CELALEDDIN
I RUMI WITH EXCELLENT EXPLANATIONS. THIS BOOK IS ONE OF THE BEST TO
UNDERSTAND MEVLANA .
THIS BOOK WAS TRANSLATED IN TO DARI ALSO.
TODAY, MANY YOUNG TURKS WHO EDUCATED IN DARI IN THE UNIVERSITIES ARE WORKING ON MEVLANE AND MAKING VERY PROFITABLE THESIS AND PRESENTATIONS FOR THE CELALEDDI-I RUMI OF MEVLANA.
DISTINQUISHED GUESTS, MY DEAR FELLOWS,
IN THE 13TH CENTURY, HZ. MEVLANA WORKED HARD FOR THE SINCERITY AND BROTHERHOOD OF THE TWO NATIONS WHICH I WANT TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION ON THIS OCCATION .
IN THE 20TH CENTURY,
GHULAM MUHAMMAD TARZI, SARDAR MAHMUD TARZI ,AMIR AMAN ULLAH KHAN ,AND
MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATURK PUT THEIR UTMOST HOLD FOR THIS BROTHERHOODNES
TO LIVE FOREVER BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES.
4/
DEAR GUESTS, BROTHERS
!
BELOW, I
WOULD LIKE TO BRING ANOTHER IMPORTANT POINT TO YOUR KIND ATTENTION.
WE,THE FAMILY OF MAHMUD TARZI ESTABLISHED THE MAHMUD TARZI CULTURAL FOUNDATION IN KABUL AND STARTED TO WORK THROUGH ITS AIMS.
FIRSTLY WE WANT
TO BUILD A RESEARCH CENTER FOR MAHMUD TARZI WORKS.
AND SECONDLY RENOVATE THE LYCEE OF MAHMUD TARZI, IN DARRUL AMAN WHICH
THE TURKISH STATE SENT ITS POSITIVE INTENTION TO START THIS PROJECT
IN 2008.
THE PRESIDENT OF AFGHANISTAN HIS HIGHNESS HAMID KARZAI KINDLY RECEIVED
ME AT HIS OFFICE AND TOGETHER WITH OTHER SUBJECTS WE DISCUSSED THE
MAIN PROJECS OF THE FOUNDATION AND ITS FUTURE.
HIS HIGHNESS ORDERED
A LAND AT DARRUL AMAN PROVINCE TO BE GIVEN TO THE FOUNDATION, TO BUILD
ITS HEAD QUARTERS AND WORKING FACILITIES.
IN THIS CENTER, YOUNG OR OLD THOSE CLOSE TO MAHMUD TARZI AND/OR WORK
FOR HIS IDEAS WILL BE WELCOMED WITH GREAT APPRECIATION. THEY WILL
FIND UPGRADETED FACILITIES TO WORK IN COMFORT.
ABOVE I TRIED TO GIVE A SHORT EXPLANATION ABOUT THESE TWO LEADERS AND I WILL ASK THE KABUL UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATORS TO START A PROGRAMME FOR THEIR STUDENTS TO WORK AND PREPARE THESIS REGARDING “IMPACT OF THESE TWO MEN IN THE RELATION OF TURKIYE-AFGHANISTAN” FOR 2008 WHICH IS THE 75TH MEMORIAL YEAR OF SARDAR MAHMUD TARZI.
THIS FOUNDATION
IS YOURS AND IS AT YOUR SERVICE.
THANK YOU
AGAIN FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

Teachers
Training Program organized at Mahmud Tarzi Highschool
A message from Elsie de Laire,
member of MTCF Training&Education Committee.
June,2006
Dear
friends and supporters,
As most of you already know, Marianne
O'Grady and I spent three weeks in Afghanistan this summer.
Since security in Ghazni was pretty bad, we conducted our science
training in Kabul and some of the Ghazni science teachers traveled
all the way to Kabul to come and attend. This is quite an impressive
commitment because all those teachers are poor, aren't familiar
with city life (Ghazni province is very conservative in comparisson
with big cities) and didn't even have money to stay in a hotel (we
decided on the spot to use some of the AFN funds for that and that
was apparently well spent!) They had to hitch rides and take
chances with traveling the dangerous Kandahar-Kabul road.
The other teachers who attended (there were about
60 total and we had morning and afternoon sessions) were from Mahmud
Tarzi High School . A friend of mine, and now of AFN, Malalai Wardak,
arranged everything for this training to happen and I am very grateful
to her and to the Mahmud Tarzi Cultural Organization (MTCF) for whom
she works.
The training was supported by Mr. Omer Tarzi, President
of MTCF. We also met with Princess India d' Afghanistan, vice President
of MTCF and daugther of former Afghan King Amanullah. She's 76, vibrant,
bright, beautiful and very outspoken.
Our training was very well received and we have
been asked to return there. The teachers are thirsty for new
information and for contact with other teachers and it makes it a
pleasure to help. It makes me never want to complain again about
my job or the staff development days we're asked to attend.
We have it soooooooooo good here! Lots of teachers haven't been
paid in months and when they get paid they make at the most $60 a
month to teach classrooms of 45 up to 80 students. The Mahmud Tarzi
school is, in comparison with other schools we have seen, well equipped,
but that is because of the dedication of the foundation. We
were treated with Afghan hospitality, which is the most generous kind
I have personally ever encountered.
After the training, Marianne and I spent quite
a bit of time organizing the science supplies we had brought with
us.
The materials the teachers had asked us for include
small portable microscopes, some big donated ones, magnifying lenses,
pipets, slides, rulers, pictures of animals, charts of the human body
systems, Periodic table, layers of planet Earth, huge world maps,
paper, scissors, stop watches, X-rays of the human body, scales
and materials we used in our demonstration lessons. We had almost
$10,000 worth of materials.
Warmly,
Elsie
